Many events have been organized as #Carnival festivals in #Crete this year. The festive season has started and main events are planned to take place from Sun, Feb 23, 2020 to Mon, Mar 01, 2020; we present the best ones for your Carnival agenda.
1. 23.02.2020, #Heraklion. Carnival parade in the old city
The parade will start from the 18 Englishmen square, at the old port, at 15:00. Route: 18 Englishmen square, 25th August Pedestrian Street, Lions square, Dikaiosynis str., Eleftherias square. Then, Carnival after party themed "Heraklion, go as the old times", will take place at “Dore” at 20:30.
2. 28.02.2020 #Sitia. White Carnival Night
A great party in the town of #Sitia, focusing on the main streets and the square, where shopkeepers set barbecues outside their shops treating the people, and providing special offers at the same time! Jugglers, magicians, harlequins, aerial and terrestrial acrobats, stilts and clowns, will be hosted at the central square of Sitia, and the 1st Carnival Bike Ride will start from there at 18:30.
3. 29.02.2020 #Kastelli Kissamou
Carnival Cycling Parade at 17:00. Starting from Kissamos Town Hall, Carnival parade with bicycles along Heroon Polytechneiou str. and ending at Tzanakaki square.
4. 01.03.2020 #Rethymnon Carnival 2020, Grand Parade
One of the top 2 or 3 Carnival festivals in Greece, the festival has been significantly developed in recent years. The Grand Parade will start at 14:00 from Theotokopoulou roundabout. The Closing Ceremony will take place at 18:30 by the beach (El. Venizelou str.), burning the King Carnival's chariot.
and... 5. Clean Monday 02.03.2020 #Gergeri
Giving a sense of authentic Crete, this all day outdoor Carnival festival is related to Ancient events honouring the god Dionysos. Moreover, villagers of Gergeri and visitors are having fun in the main street of the village, participating in traditional music and dance, while local women offer lenten treats on the some place.
