Samaria, Rethymnon: one of the oldest restaurants in town

Overview: an all time classic restaurant - tavern in the city center of Rethymnon. We used to go there before 10-15 years for grilled lamb chops, green salads, and soups. So why this tavern is one of our best choices in #Rethymnon?

Grilled lamb chops and chicken souvlaki, mousaka, and home white wine

Our review:

Location: in seaside road of the port of Rethymnon.

Ambiance: 80s – 90s style, probably since the period that the restaurant was opened.

Cleanliness: very good.

Service: excellent.

Food: one of the best places for local food in Rethymnon, especially grilled meat on the charcoals, seasonal salads, and comfort food.

Dessert: very good complimentary dessert combined by fresh fruits and a carafe of raki.

Wine choice: local house red wine is our favorite recommendation.

Price and value for money: it's ok, but slightly expensive for Greek standards.

Pros: location, grilled meat, seasonal salads, homemade food

Cons: ambiance, prices

Overall rating: 4,5/5
